Ten groups and four deejays took part in the event this year. First of was the appearance of Suav Mizik, Tony Mix with his hit song “Fe Wanna Mache.” TPO’s first appearance was up next, followed by the legendary singer, Emeline Michel, betting out folk songs. Gabel also put up a good performance followed by Dissip, Zenglen, Klass, J. Perry, Carimi, Kreole La, Djakout # 1 etc. The best performance of the night, however, was delivered by Ambiance. The band interpreted a song from the legendary Haitian group Tabou Combo and their popular carnival song: Sans Souci. Finally, Brother’s Posse and Don Kato closed the show with an electrifying performance with their songs “A Loral and Yon Prezidan Kap Fe Stayle.

A passionate of photography, Richardson invites you to view the beauty of Haiti through his lenses. He has spent the last eight (8) years capturing pictures of his homeland from beautiful landscapes, historical monuments to popular Haitian artists. In “Haiti a Country to Discover”, Richardson shows a different face of Haiti. One that most of us are not accustomed to see. If you have yet to do so, I invite you to obtain a copy of this beautiful book for your library.

For more information about the book, contact Mr. Ricahrdson Dorvil on Face Book or go to www.Culture509.net

Her album, Quintessence, which was released earlier this month, is a critical success and songs like: I can’t sleep, My heard skipped, Your Yanvalou, Thanks for life, Soaked Land, Take My Hand, Freedom Bound, and Djannie have already started receiving a great amount of attention from music producers and radio stations in Haiti and the Diaspora. Emeline’s music contains powerful lyrics and melodic beats that will stay stuck in your head for days. One of the most important characteristics of Emeline is that she possesses a captivating stage presence. On Sunday, March 25, 2013, I was very fortunate to see her performed live at Moca Cafe in Down Town North Miami. Quintessence is now part of my album collection.

I am less than a half mile away and I can barely hear them. They need to do something real quick or we are done this year.” Mr. Fortune was referring to the National Carnival which will take place in Cap Haitian next week (February 10 to 12, 2013). Will Djakout # 1 ready then?

There is no doubt that Djakout # 1 performed poorly on the Boulevard of Jacmel. The sound was awful. There was too much base, and not enough high. Shaba’s voice was the only thing that stood out. It reminded me of my late grandfather’s portable stereo. Almost everyone agrees that Djakout # 1 needs a complete make over. To start, they must update their equipment if they wish to remain in competition with T-Vice. The large EV speakers that they had on the back and front of the truck are outdated. With the National Carnival less than a week away, many supporters are asking themselves this question: Will Djakout # 1 be ready for Cap Haitian. One thing is certain, there will be no competition if Djakout # 1 shows up in Cap Haitian with these outdated equipment because T-Vice is well equipped and ready to strike. T-Vice’s performance in Jacmel was outstanding. Roberto Martino was tireless and he, once again, showed his fans that when it comes to Carnival T-Vice is the only super power. Jacmel was no exception.

Carnival is the biggest and the most awaited celebration in Haiti, as well as the Caribbean Islands. It is a lively celebration that involves colorful parades, enchanting music and traditional dances. This celebration takes place every year, usually in February, is accompanied by millions of Haitian and worldwide tourists.
This year, February 10 to 12, Cap Haitian will host the biggest party of the Caribbean Island. As millions of Haitian Diasporas and tourists all over the world await to attend this special celebration, many are expressing some serious concerns regarding Cap Haitian’s ability to effectively and safely host the party. Some say that the streets are two narrow; that the city lacks descent hotels and restaurants; the national route (from Henry to Cap Haitian) is in very poor condition and may lead to serious car accidents; and most importantly, the Boulevard (2 km or 1.243 miles stretch of road located on the north side of the Atlantic Ocean) which is officially designated as the main route for the parade, may not be able to sustain the amount of people, stands, and heavy vehicles (Char) that are expected to attend the Carnival this year. With 2 km or 1.243 miles, the boulevard is already considered by many as the shortest parade route in the history of the Haitian Carnival compare to Port-au-Prince, Jacmel and the Cayes. One thing is certain though, Cap Haitian is about to be tested.

As an entertainer, Tantan has come to the realization that opportunities to grow are very limited in the Haitian Music Industry. So in quest of a larger audience, he delved himself into the world of Pop music. Stanley Tousaint, now Stanley T, has teamed up with Sexy Beef to bring us “Lovers.” The video was released earlier this week on youtube and it has already reached more than 2000 viewers. Does it mean that Toussaint has turned his back to the HMI. Only time will tell. Anyway, we wish him the best of luck in his new endeavor.

B. Yet, the video starts with the band members wearing nice suits and sitting on wooden stools in the living-room doing nothing. They seem to have no purpose other than being in the video.

The relationship between the lyrics and the visual is kid of contradicting as the band leaders’ primary goal was to convey a message of love and compassion. Money G is madly in love with his girlfriend who apparently has an alcohol addiction that threatens their relationship. The story ended in a positive note as the woman decided to stop drinking in order to save the relationship.
